I think everyone now knows what I think is the biggest hole in what it offers - a consistent and well thought out UI that would go across all general tools One does not need a monster system to run it like Vista does. Microsoft throws in the towel on Vista
In these cases *diversity* of look is a benefit, though consistency in UI controls is still a benefit (similar way to get to settings and to close the programs, for example). Anyway, just a thought I figured I would share... :) So.... inconsistency is very bad... except when YOU say its not. Nope... not at all.

Bill Gates embarrassed about Vista
I think all it takes is one show-stopper for Vista to be a pain. I think I agree, but I find my show-stoppers in the UI, not so much in applications that don't work. Really, though...who thought this was going to help anything? Many of the users don't care, don't understand, don't think they should have to.

Vista - is it here to stay?
I didn't say I thought they were. I asked what you thought. I know the answer. I am running KDE and Firefox right now. That's right, Rick, the Firefox folks .... How do you think those actions prevent the OSS folks from making a Linux distro with a non-fractured UI? Frankly I do not see much connection at all...

Where an inconsistent look is good
I commented on UI components. User experience involves much more than just the UI. Correct.
